Sculling
Quadruple scull, or "4x". Four rowers, two oars each.
Double scull, or "2x". Two rowers, two oars each.
Sculling is the act of rowing with two oars. MRRA offers 4 week Learn to Scull programs targeted at those new to the sport or those with some sweep experience looking to move to small boats. Participants are able to graduate from multi-seat boats ("quads" and "doubles") to stable "singles" and eventually finer single shells. At the end of both programs, participants usually complete a "Boat Captain's Test" which allows participants to comply with club requirements for independent rowing with the MRRA. Additionally most participants continue on to MRRA membership at a reduced rate for the remainder of the rowing season.
