JOINING THE MRRA

The MRRA offers some of the most affordable rowing in the whole of the US northeast corridor. Membership fees are deliberately kept to a minimum in order to open rowing to the widest possible audience and encourage members to participate in the promotion of rowing in the community.

The MRRA accepts new membership applications throughout the rowing season. Prior members are required to renew their subscription prior the start of the next season. The MRRA reserves the right to reject a membership application.

The MRRA is a sculling club.  For information on the UMass/Lowell Learn-To-Row programs (sweep rowing), visit this site: http://www.uml.edu/campusrecreation/Boathouse/default.html

Membership Benefits

MRRA members can make use of the following equipment and facilities:

The Association owns approximately 15 shells for the use of its members - these include:

  • A full range of single sculls (1x) for different rowers of different weights and experience (including very stable beginner shells to fine lightweight racing shells)
  • Three double sculls (2x)
  • One Quad
  • Rowing orientated gym equipment and weights are shared with both the UML and LHS (Lowell High School) rowing programs; MRRA members have access to the facilities when not used by those programs. MRRA owns a number of the ergometers included in the equipment.
  • Members can make use of the shower and changing facilities in the boathouse.
  • A launch is available for coaching

Membership Application

Joining the MRRA is a process.  For best results, get the paperwork components done early, then fill out the on-line application.  Once the paperwork is done, you'll be able to fulfill the safety requirements at our next upcoming meeting (second Tuesday of every month).   Specifically, you'll need to hit the following items, send the four paper forms plus a check, and then attend the next MRRA meeting to see the Safety Video and start the orientation process:

ON-LINE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
Waiver (also available from the On-Line Application above)

Swimming Certificate (also available from the On-Line Application above)

Note: The swim test is valid for 5 years, thus renewing members only need to resubmit the test on their 6th year anniversary.

UML/MRRA Boathouse Membership (also available from the On-Line Application above)
UML Boathouse Safety (also available from the On-Line Application above)
